FeedsThe following topics have been revised in XML format for content distribution. Thomas Hubbard Online currently offers free XML feeds in RSS 2.0 and Atom 1.0 formats. We encourage the use of our feeds for personal use only. Republishing our content is not allowed. Please view our Feed Policy for complete instructions.
The purpose of XML feeds and how to access them.XML feeds allow content to be automatically syndicated, which is a benefit to the Publisher and User (or Subscriber). Those who subscribe to XML feeds receive timely updates from their favorite websites without having to actually visit them! This is called "aggregating" feeds. It's the process of gathering information and content from multiple sites into one place. XML feeds can be accessed by using a Reader. The term "Reader" is used interchangeably with "RSS reader," "feed reader," "aggregator," and other similar terms. A Reader can be web-based or dedicated (desktop). Users can subscribe to a feed by entering its URI (or URL) into the Reader, or by clicking a RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. Once the User is subscribed to a feed, the Reader constantly checks the corresponding website for new content and downloads the updates that it finds. There are dozens of free Readers available for download. We encourage our Users to perform a web search to find the Reader that best suits them. An alternative to downloading a Reader would be to use a web-based Reader. Most popular networking sites (Myspace, Facebook, My Yahoo!, and My AOL) enable their users to add feeds directly to their personal page! Be sure to keep up with all the latest information at Thomas Hubbard Online by utilizing a Reader and subscribing to our XML feeds today! |
