Once upon a time, in a far away galaxy, I had a grudge against Money. I didn’t understand why Money was 99% of people’s conversations, yet, she treated those people like they didn’t even exist! Money never came to their homes and had dinner with them. I never saw them and Money hanging out together—ever. And Money was never there when those people needed her. Yet, I was scolded when I pointed out those facts. It was like talking to victims of abuse; comfortable in their states of denial.

But as they say, there are two sides to every story! What if Money wasn’t the complete blame here? What if Money, in all her beauty and popularity, began to feel neglected? Maybe she grew tired of being “hustled” all the time, and found new ways to escape each time someone managed to get their hands on her. Did those people really appreciate her? Could they even see her true beauty?

These questions led me to research the history of Money, and as an artist, I immediately fell in love with her artistic value! Through her art alone, Money is rich in our country’s history and legacy! She has served as a direct reflection of her most beloved fellow, and as a root throughout time as we know it. I marveled at these artifacts, now suspended in currency and masterpieces in their own rites! I also noticed that each design was quipped with stories; some of struggle and some of celebration.

In these modern times, there is speculation as to whether or not money is worth even a fraction of it’s face value. As a gentleman, I cannot speak on that which I ultimately do not know. But what I do know is that, aesthetically speaking, the US dollar remains undisputed! And as an artist, I can only dream that I am commissioned to design the first, or a version of, President Barack Obama’s dollar bill!
